Over 8 decades ago, Australian actress Mary Ann Evans transformed into ‘Fearless Nadia’ on Indian movie screens and forever changed the dynamics of Indo-Australian cultural exchanges. Since 1998, a horde of popular Indian films have been in Australia’s picturesque locations and several Aussie film makers have flirted with uniquely Indian subjects and locales.
But despite prolific cinematic ties and growing awareness there was no single, dedicated , cohesive, comprehensive platform that allowed for these two thriving film industries to meet, engage and exchange knowledge on a regular basis. Out of a compelling desire to serve this need was born the first Australian Film Festival of India |
